MEET THE ARTIST

MEET SCOTT DIVEN

From the time I was old enough to use scissors and tape, I have been submersed in creating. My two wonderful, hard-working parents, allowed me to develop a perfect blend of my mother’s work with ceramics and my father’s work with trains and steel. In 1999, I graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute and from there went to work teaching art at a special needs school. Almost 20 years later, I’m now the Assistant Principal at that same school. I am married to my beautiful wife, Amanda and have three amazing children – Bria, Charlotte and Slade. My art would not be where it is today without the positive support of my wife and the motivation my children give me.

Art is something that has always been inside me which inspires the need for me to create and share these creations with everyone. It’s an honor to be able to have other people enjoy my pieces in and around their home. I love to make the pieces functional and affordable – everyone should own art! ? I also enjoy doing custom pieces for people with their own visions. Inspiration for my art is often from nature and the way it coexists with industrial items abandoned in the landscape.  There is such a contrast to both elements that I find fascinating and want to capture in my pieces.

For example:

  • Rusty old farm equipment in a field with the tall grass growing all around it
  • Trees and flowers growing through a fallen building
  • No longer traveled train tracks cutting through the landscape.

To communicate this feeling, I like to use a combination of hard/rough materials (like steel and rock) in contrast with a delicate material as in ceramic. I use a torch to cut the metal, I bend everything by hand, do all my own drilling and welding, and I hand sculpt the ceramic. Each part is something made with my hands which I am proud to display in the final product.

Products

Each piece is a one of a kind, handmade sculpture which has its own unique design. The collection of pieces change so please contact me for current pictures.

My portfolio of pieces ranges from (but is not limited to):

  • Flower solar light sculptures – which come in dozens of styles
  • Fountains
  • Fire pits
  • Decorative bowls
  • Planters
  • Sculptures in the likeness of plants and animals.

Custom Pieces

I also love to do custom pieces so if you have an idea or vision of your own – I’m all ears! I will be honest about my abilities and limitations because it is my goal for everyone to be happy with their piece, however, I will do my best to translate your wishes and my artistic touch into a sculpture.

Delivery, installation, and landscape design around your new artwork is also an option
